When you purchase a new vehicle from us, like a rough-and-ready Jeep Wrangler or a workhorse RAM 1500 pickup, you’re getting a well-engineered vehicle that comes through for you along every Winter Haven drive and weekend wilderness adventure. When you bring your new vehicle to our Lake Wales service center, you can choose between synthetic vs. conventional oil, giving you a choice for your new or used vehicle. What are the differences between synthetic oil vs. regular oil? We’ll tell you in our handy guide.
Conventional oil begins as crude petroleum, extracted from the ground and shipped to a refinery. There, manufacturers remove the impurities and refine the crude to make motor oil that functions properly within your internal combustion engine. Like any fresh motor oil, it’s a translucent, light brown color. It also flows smoothly and is thicker than water but not quite as slow as honey. While conventional oil is the least expensive option, it may not be the right choice for your Dodge or Chrysler vehicle.
Synthetic oil, much like conventional oil, comes from crude petroleum. It looks the same as regular oil. But deep down inside, fully synthetic motor oil is different. It performs better by keeping and maintaining your engine better over time as you cruise along Frostproof streets.
Full synthetic oil contains special cleansers and anti-oxidizing agents. Refineries can custom-make this type of lubricant to meet the exact standards of automakers like Stellantis (the parent company of Jeep, Dodge, RAM, and Chrysler). Plus, you’ll get genuine Mopar oil specifically designed for the engines in these vehicles when you bring your car, truck, or SUV to our service center.
The lone downside to synthetic motor oils is the upfront cost. Synthetic oils are more expensive than regular oils because they undergo more refinement compared to conventional oils. However, full synthetic oil changes cost less over time because you bring your car in for fewer oil changes near Winter Haven.
For example, you might need a conventional oil change every 3,000 miles and three months, but full synthetic oil changes may occur every 6,000 miles and six months. Conventional oil changes could cost $70 versus a full synthetic oil change that costs $115. Over one year, you’ll save $50 on oil changes alone ($230 versus $280). Plus, your vehicle will last longer and save you for overall repair costs.
